Choosing Your Ceiling Lights, Flush Mount Or Not?

With so many choices in light fixtures on the market, it can be a bit daunting trying to choose the right one for your particular situation. Most people don’t really think about what category a particular light falls into, they just know they either like it or they don’t. If you break down the lights you see into a couple of different categories it makes your approach more organized, and in turn a little easier to keep from getting confused. One of the most common types of lights you will find in any home is flush mount ceiling lights. Just look around and you might be surprised to see this kind of light fixture in almost every room of the house!

Some of the smallest fixtures you will need are those that are typically found in places like bedroom closets and small hallway areas. These are usually small globe type fixtures that are fairly plain in appearance, but do the job of lighting a small area quite effectively. The price tag for these little lights is very low, typically less than $20. That makes them kind of a no brainer solution when you have a small area that needs a light.

The same idea as the small closet globe can be used in areas like the hallway, entry way, or small patio. Obviously these areas get a lot more traffic than a bedroom closet, so you will want them to have at least some style rather than be just a plain functional light. There are many attractive options in this type of fixture, so you will have no problems finding one that goes well with the surrounding style of the area. The price tag for these types of fixtures is typically anywhere from $30 up to $75, keeping them in the affordable range for most people.

As you get into the main living areas of the home, you will no doubt pay more attention to the fixtures you use and will consider tham as much for their style as for their function. No worries, because within the huge selection of ceiling lights, flush mount fixtures make up a fairly large percentage. From fancier globe types to combination ceiling fan and lights, there are many styles to choose from. When you get into this category of light fixtures, you can get more options, such as remote controls, dimmer, etc to make your lighting convenient in addition to being stylish.
